About Thistle & Thread
Thistle & Thread Press was founded in 2025 with the intention of creating a space for writing that exists on its own terms ~~ outside trends, algorithms, and the pressure to produce for visibility instead of authenticity. We are based in Wisconsin and operate as an independent press with a permanent editorial program and a growing body of published work.
We are community-driven in the truest sense: the writers who trust us with their work shape what the press becomes over time.
Our Approach
We publish deliberately. We are not interested in volume, and we do not chase what is currently trending. What we are interested in is work that has been shaped by genuine experience ~~ writing that carries its own weight and reflects a clear way of seeing the world.
Every piece we feature receives the same attention regardless of the writer's publication history or credentials. We evaluate work on its own terms.
What We Do
Our primary editorial program is The Friday Feature (ISSN 3070-9865), a weekly digital serial spotlighting individual poems and short works by contemporary writers. Each feature is published as a standalone entry and archived as part of an ongoing record of the voices engaging with our community.
We also operate Loose Threads, a Saturday community prompt series open to all. Our editor, Tyler Tittle, has authored two chapbooks published under the press imprint. Future book-length publication opportunities will be announced separately when they open.
Community
Thistle & Thread Press exists because writers choose to trust us with their work. Contributors are kept informed throughout the process, their rights are protected without exception, and their work is met with attention beyond the moment it is published.
We are not interested in building an audience for its own sake. We are interested in building something worth reading.
